Have you ever stayed at a tropical All Inclusive Resort with your children that includes Scuba Diving and Snorkelling? Thats what we did this summer at Beaches, on the Providenciales Island in Turks and Caicos. If you are all certified divers, then you can dive up to three times a day, and snorkel once a day, included in your weekly rate. After doing our calculations we can recommend thats its great value for a family to dive and snorkel this way. If you want to do a night dive or go to the West Caicos Island then Beaches charges an extra 100 dollars. The night dive was well worth the additional fee.
Beaches also has an array of activities for the non divers such as sailing, kayaking, water biking, paddle-boarding, volleyball, tennis, etc. We went with my extended family where ages ranged from 8 to 75, all were kept happily entertained.
The Diving is spectacular at Grace Bay and Northwest point on the island of Providenciales. Visibility is at least 30m, with a balmy 29 degrees celsius water temperature. We all wore skin suits or shorties and were very comfortable. The reef is still in great condition, with plenty of colourful tube sponges, gorgonian fans, brain corals and branching corals. A healthy reef brings vibrant marine life and we were lucky to see Grey Reef and Nurse sharks, Green Turtles, Rays, Porcupine and trunk fish, Spiny lobsters, Surgeon and Parrotfish.
